  3. Why was I charged more than quoted?

    I continually get mixed information from your associates. I let my warranty lapse because all it ever gave me was a 25% off discount. So, I'm told when I book the service that there will be a $100. diagnostic fee, which will go towards the cost of repairs, IF I choose to make the repairs. If not, I'll owe the $100. regardless. However, when the technician comes he states the $100. is for a trip fee and it is on top of the repair. I ended up paying twice for labor what the part cost. Although the technician was very nice and completed the repair, this wasn't a fair deal, in my opinion. I'll be looking elsewhere for repairs.

  7. Dishwasher Repair Did Not Work

    I spoke with the service schedulers on the phone, explained to them the issue with our dishwasher, the likely causes of the issue, and what parts the repair technician would likely need after his diagnostic evaluation. The technician arrived about 30 mins late with no notice provided until I called to find out if he was still in his way. When he arrived, he assessed the problem after about 30 minutes, but stated he did not have the part with him (heating element that I told the scheduler to put in the notes). He was very polite and helpful but was unable to repair the dishwasher that day and I didn’t have time in my schedule to take off more work. Based on his diagnostic assessment I chose to replace the heating element myself, which is a simple repair. However, after replacing the heating element with OEM GE parts, the dishwasher still does not heat, indicative of a flood switch (or similar) problem, which is the other part I told the scheduler to include in the notes. I’m pretty unsatisfied with the whole process, especially the communication from the schedulers to the technician, so that he could show up with the proper parts to finish the repair. Thanks only reason I gave 2 stars is because the technician was very pleasant to deal with.

  8. Awful customer service

    I first called 6 weeks before my service plan ended because my dishwasher wasn't working properly. Since then, I have had five different service calls and the dishwasher was working worse after each one. They changed three different functional parts and it is still not working. I had a visit scheduled two days before my service contract ended which Sears unilaterally canceled and rescheduled for the last day of my contract without informing me. I only found out after calling Sears because their worker did not show up that they had changed my appointment. After that appiontment and with their serviceman unable to find or fix the prob;em, I called sears Customer Service back since it was the last day of my contract but had to hang up after being placed on hold for over 40 minutes. When I reached them the next day, they told me since I no longer had a service contract, they would have to charge me to send a repairman back, even though they had not EVER fixed the origionla problem I called for. They resist letting you speak to a supervisor and they are completely unflexible. It is clear their foreign phone call centers are filled with people simply reading off of cue cards but they never offer any real solutions. I will NEVER buy another product from Sears again!

    It took over 2 weeks from the date of reporting a problem with a refrigerator to the time it was repaired. I would think that something as important as a refrigerator would receive prompt service. Also I'm disappointed in the performance of the refrigerator which is a Kenmore Elite having a compressor fail in less than 6 years.
