A technician came to repair our Whirlpool direct-drive washer. He visually inspected the unit, documented part numbers, and quoted us for a new direct-drive motor and transmission. He then told us the washer was “not worth” repairing. The issue is that he never actually tested the machine or physically examined it. He did not tilt it, look underneath it, or open it up. He did not attempt to spin the motor, agitator, or drum to determine whether anything was seized or excessively loose. Instead, he assumed both the electric motor and transmission had failed — without performing even basic diagnostic steps — and then charged us $119 for labor. After I got home and heard what happened, I tipped the washer onto its side, removed the motor, and found that the direct-drive coupler had shredded. That was the only failed component. It was a $20 repair. There was visible evidence of this failure underneath the machine, including black rubber debris on the floor and surrounding components. Had he conducted even a minimal inspection, he would have seen it.

Repairman came, spun the drum on my dryer then spent 20 minutes looking up parts. Gave me an estimate of over $1,000.00 for parts. Never even took the back of the dryer off to see if something was loose or bent. Dryer works fine, it’s just loud. Quiets down after it runs for a bit. Priced a new dryer and it’s only $500.00. Totally a waste of time. They just wanted the service fee. Never again.

The tech never showed up I got this text because my claim was closed out. You can’t get a person in the phone. The automated service won’t let you enter in your claim number. So week 3 with no freezer here we go.
