As the power grid in the United States becomes overtaxed by growing demand and extreme weather, chances increase that your home will lose power for more than a day. Need some stats? In 2020, the US Department of Energy recorded 383 electrical disturbance events — major power outages — compared to 150 in 2017.

Not all power outages make headlines like the one that shut down Texas for weeks after the February 2021 ice storm. But for affected homeowners, any outage is inconvenient — and can be costly and dangerous.

That’s why Sears Home Services now offers whole home generator sales and installation, so you have a backup when the power goes out. We’ve partnered with Cummins to offer a range of affordable whole home generators for almost any size of house.

Why a Standby Generator?

Unlike that noisy portable generator that you have to hook up when the power goes out, a standby generator is a permanent, professionally installed unit that automatically turns on the moment the power goes out. Standby generators run powerfully, quietly and efficiently until the power outage ends.

The Cummins QuietConnect™ Series includes compact, powerful and quiet whole home standby generators suited to a range of homes sizes. And Cummins standby generators are backed by an industry-leading warranty.

Cummins QuietConnect Air-Cooled Standby Generators

Cummins QuietConnect Air-Cooled Standby Generators

Sears installs two packages of Cummins QuietConnect air-cooled standby generators — standard air-cooled models that operate to 0 degrees Fahrenheit, and extreme-temperature air-cooled models that operate to –40 degrees Fahrenheit. The air-cooled generator models have an output of 13 to 20 kilowatts, to suit different sizes of homes.

All air-cooled models offer these features:

  • They’re extremely quiet and neighborhood friendly, with a sound level of 65 decibels from 23 feet (about as loud as a dishwasher).
  • Built-in remote monitoring lets you control the generator from anywhere.
  • Intelligent load management determines which circuits to power.
  • Proprietary no-start exercising is a fuel-saving way to run diagnostics without starting the engine.
  • The compact, sleek design blends into your landscape.
  • The unit can be installed as close as 18 inches from your home.
  • The unit uses natural gas or propane.
  • Cummins air-cooled standby generators have a 5-year limited warranty.

Cummins QuietConnect Liquid-Cooled Standby Generators

Cummins QuietConnect Liquid-Cooled Standby Generators

For homes that need more power, Sears offer a line of Cummins QuietConnect liquid-cooled generators. The liquid-cooled models have an output of 25 to 50 kilowatts, depending on the model.

Like the air-cooled standby generators, the liquid-cooled models run on natural gas or propane, have a sleek design and proprietary no-start exercising to save fuel while running diagnostics.

All liquid-cooled models offer these features:

  • Cummins PowerCommand; electronic control provides industry-leading self-diagnostic capabilities.
  • The robust design can handle the harshest weather, including 180-mph winds.
  • Depending on the model, the sound level ranges from 60 to 64 decibels at 23 feet with the optional sound-reducing enclosure.
  • Cummins liquid-cooled standby generators have a 2-year limited warranty.
