Most common repairs needed to fix a LG dryer

    Heating Element Replacement

An open heating element could be causing the problem when your dryer is not heating. “Open” means that the heating element is broken and current isn’t flowing through the element to produce heat. You may not see physical damage on the heating element for it to be electrically open. An interior break in the continuity of the element can prevent it from heating. When your dryer isn’t heating, have a Sears Home Services Technician visit your home and fix the dryer.

    Thermal Cut-off Fuse Replacement

A failed thermal cut-off fuse will prevent your dryer from heating. This fuse is a safety device that helps keep the dryer from overheating. Overheating is often caused by a clogged exhaust vent system in the dryer. Once the thermal cut-off fuse trips, it won’t reset. You’ll need to have a Sears Home Services Technician visit your home and replace the blown thermal cut-off fuse. The technician will check for the cause of the blown fuse and correct any additional problems so the dryer will heat and run properly after replacing the fuse.

    Thermal Fuse Replacement

In a gas dryer not heating, a blown thermal fuse could be causing the problem. The thermal fuse is a safety device attached to the blower housing that trips when the dryer overheats. A faulty thermal fuse may trip at a lower temperature than it is designed to trip at. When your gas dryer won’t heat, schedule a repair appointment through Sears Home Services and we’ll send an in-home technician to fix the dryer. The technician will check the thermal fuse and replace it if it’s blown.

What to expect when you experience an LG dryer not heating issue

How is the not heating problem fixed?

Correcting most not heating problems usually involves replacing the heating element, thermal cut-off fuse or thermal fuse. However, there are many potential causes, so a thorough diagnosis is key to fixing the problem. An accurate diagnosis is essential to understanding how much the repair will be.

Sears Home Services recommendations for a dryer that is not heating

When the dryer is not heating it can be for many reasons. To avoid replacing unneeded parts, we recommend scheduling LG dryer repair with a local Sears Home Services professional who can perform diagnostic tests to identify the root cause of the problem. Our technicians are experienced at diagnosing all types of dryer failures.

What to look out for with a dryer not heating diagnosis

Diagnosing modern appliances without proper knowledge and training can be difficult. Without using proper diagnostic techniques, fixing your dryer problem will only be achieved through changing parts on a hunch. Appliances, especially in the last 10 years, have become extremely advanced, and many models have electronic parts that are difficult to test. DIY repairs on the latest appliance models are becoming increasingly difficult.

Finding the LG Dryer Not Heating Reset Button

Although there is no reset button, you can reset your LG dryer using the Start/Pause button by following this procedure:

    1. Press the Power button to turn the dryer off.
    2. Unplug the dryer from the power outlet or shut off the house circuit breaker for the dryer to completely disconnect electrical power.
    3. Press and hold the Start/Pause button for 5 seconds.
    4. Plug the dryer back in or reset the house circuit breaker to restore electrical power.

Resetting the control board in your LG dryer may free up a locked up control board so the dryer will begin heating again.

Troubleshooting an LG DLE0442W Dryer Not Heating

When your LG DLE0442W dryer is not heating, follow these troubleshooting tips to fix the problem:

    • Check the heat setting on the dryer and adjust it to high heat if necessary.
    • Check the house circuit breakers for the dryer. The dryer will run if one of the 120-volt breakers is on but the dryer won’t heat of the 2nd 120-volt breaker of the 240-volt circuit has tripped. Reset the house circuit breakers and see if the dryer heats.
    • Reset the electronic control board in your LG DLE0442W dryer not heating. Unplug the dryer and press the Start/Pause button for 5 seconds. Plug the power cord back in to restore electrical power and the dryer may begin heating again.

If these basic troubleshooting tips don’t help, you’ll likely need to schedule dryer repair service. We’ll send a Sears Home Services technician to your home to check the heating element, control system and wiring to find and fix the cause of the heating failure.

Tromm Dryer Not Heating Troubleshooting Tips

Follow these expert troubleshooting tips when you find your LG Tromm dryer not heating:

    • If you have a gas Tromm dryer not heating, check the gas supply cut-off valve. If you find that valve closed, open it so the burner will gas and dryer will heat.
    • For an electric Tromm dryer, check the house circuit breakers for the dryer. A tripped circuit breaker will prevent the dryer from heating. The dryer will run if one of the 2 circuit breakers is on, but the appliance won’t heat of the 2nd circuit breaker is tripped.
    • Check the control panel and adjust the heat setting if a No Heat or Low Heat option is selected.

If these basic troubleshooting steps don’t help restore heat in your Tromm dryer, schedule dryer repair service. We’ll send a Sears Home Services technician to your home to fix the heating problem.
