They never showed up for the scheduled appointment and then showed up unannounced over a week later demanding payment without providing an estimate. I was charged almost $500 for a 20-minute job to replace a piece of rubber in the washer drum. #Neveragain

I had an initial repair person come out on 5/16 who quoted $1800 to fix my refrigerator. I paid $100 for a diagnostic that said I needed a new compressor. I declined the service only to figure out later on that the compressor was still under warranty. I called Sears and set up another appointment. I was told that the person who came out on 5/16 didn't identified the right refrigerator, hence why I wasn't told that the part was still under service. The second person came out on 5/19 and confirmed a new compressor was needed, the part was under warranty, the repair cost would be $880 and he would have to come back in two weeks. As I was discussing with my wife what to do, he stepped outside and got on the phone with someone. Next thing I know, he says he now has the part and that the repair cost would now be $640. I accepted the repair because we had been without a refrigerator for almost a week. Makes absolutely no sense why he was quoting an initial repair cost that was $200 higher and saying it would take two weeks to come back and get it done. On top of that he didn't take into account the $100 diagnostic fee I had paid on 5/16 and said to pick it up with Sears because he didn't deal with administrative tasks. He did replace the compressor and the refrigerator has so far been working fine. What ever happened to the great service one used to get and to appliances that didn't break down so fast?

Sears In-Home Repair service appears to rely on a business model of charging ridiculous prices for labor and then try to entice you to buy a service contract for $500/yr. Good for them. Not so much for the customer.

Second call for water heater repair, same problem.
Sally D,
The service technician who came to my home was extremely rude and became loud when I asked simple questions. He told me that we needed a controller board and that the part was no longer made. This turned out to be completely false. When my husband came home, he immediately found the real issue — the timer switch was left in between ON and OFF, which caused the humming noise. The technician claimed he “couldn’t fix it,” charged us $129, and clearly had no understanding of the actual problem. This is unacceptable. A technician who behaves this way and provides incorrect information is essentially taking money from customers who trust your company. I’m concerned for the people he has misled who may have no idea they were given false diagnoses. I will be disputing the charge with my credit card company and filing a report with the BBB. I expect this matter to be addressed, and I strongly recommend removing this technician from customer routes to prevent further issues.

Technician spent 15 minutes on the phone with his office about a broken repair van when he arrived. He then told me that the part he needs to repair my microwave is no longer available and that I had to call the home warranty company. When I asked him to report it to the home warranty company, he told me that I had to do it. I have had good experiences with Sears in the past, but I was not happy with this visit.

Sears sucks. Sorry. They are a subcontractor helping with my dryer, or maybe I should say “helping,” because while they came out once for a diagnostic visit, the technician (who was totally nice) didn’t seem to understand I had a ventless dryer. This is my first time with a ventless dryer too, but the installers left the old vent hose hanging there if I ever needed it, and I might!! Anyway, my dryer isn’t sucking water out of the drum and the first time the repair man saw it he said “you know, your problem is your vent is not connected.” YES I KNOW. Anyway, I can forgive a dumb observation. What I can’t forgive is shitty customer service. They’ve now scheduled THREE TIMES with me for a follow up, and all three times for 8 am-5 pm windows, meaning I have to take off work. They didn’t show up for any of them, lol. And it’s an all-AI system, so you can’t talk to a human. Now their little bot won’t stop texting me, like “we really want to finish your appointment!” and I’m like, “I hate you.” Sears, if you cant follow through with customers, stop advertising services.

Horrible service. 3 trips out - 3 different parts and ended up saying it was an electrical issue. Worse, they have to report that to the warranty company, which they did not and now Sears claims they cannot find the dispatch at all. 11 days without a dryer and I have to start all over
