The service technician was great. The Sears' customer service/warranty department SUCKS! My grill is always covered to protect it from the elements. I've had my grill for over 3 years and parts started falling off when used normally and ultimately the gas grill portion stopped working. The warranty department indicated that the warranty coverage, I paid for, would not cover the cost of the majority of parts I needed replaced because my grill, that is outdoors, but remains covered when not in use, had too much rust on it. I'm sorry, but if you have a product that is designed to be used outdoors and the customer does their part to protect their investment by covering it up, why would Sears go back on their word to warranty their product? I've been noticing that the quality of the Sears brand products has been diminishing over the last several years, but I just chalked it up to me just getting the one bad apple in the Sears barrel. As I talk with my friends and neighbors about where to buy quality products and they indicate that they would not longer buy from Sears, I find that I can no longer defend Sears for either their quality or service. This experience with my grill has shown me that it is not me, but it is Sears that is the problem. Sears has lost a customer! Perhaps to Sears losing one customer like me does not matter. However, I would point to the current non-competitive position of Sears and suggest that this maybe why you're in trouble.

I contacted Sears for maintenance of my mower tractor and they suggested me a $150 maintenance package. I made an appointment with them from 1PM to 5PM. I asked for leave and waited at home for the whole day. However, the technician didn’t arrive until almost 5PM. I called sears and was told the technician will be one hour late. They gave me the choice of doing it today or rescheduling the appointment. What could I do? I didn’t want to spend another day. My kids had swimming class at 5:30 pm and I had to ask for help from a friend. When the technician came, he told me that I would get 25% discount if I receive the $200 service package. I thought he was being nice to me because he was late. So I agreed. However, when the service was done and I was ready to pay the bill, he told me that I could not get the 25% discount because I did not have an insurance contract with Sears. That was ridiculous. I never told him I have insurance with Sears and he should have known all the information before he came. I didn’t argue with him too much and paid the bill, in hoping that I could get the discount back by contacting their customer service. The talk with the customer service turned out to be a terrible experience. They asked me for a paper document to prove that I was promised for the discount. The problem is that I never have any signed paper document with them. It was only an oral promise. So the lesson is that you should never trust whatever Sears says. I hope I could give them a zero star rank.

The Sears Repairman came to fix our range(after Washington Gas declared our Range inoperable due to a gas leak), but, he didn't repair it as we still had a gas leak. For the second time we had to call Washington Gas. They diagnosed the gas leak a second time and labeled our Kenmore Range as inoperable. What really upsets my wife and I is we had to wait three weeks for the Sears Repairman to come to try to fix our range. We had to spend a lot of money to eat outside our home which we can't afford. After the second time Washington Gas declared our Range inoperable, Sears finally agreed to come out again two days later, but, called the night before canceling because "we don't have enough technicians". This after knowing we had an emergency situation and had been without a range for well over one month. Sears wanted to come on August 25th, but, my wife convinced them(with much arguing) to come this Monday afternoon, August 14th. What really irritates us is that we have a Sears Maintenance Agreement and Sears doesn't help us by making our situation a priority as my wife and I are both seniors and it is a financial burden on us to have to spend so much money eating out! We lost organic meat and veggetable became rotted because waiting for sears repair to come for almost a month. In conclusion Sears doesn't serve our needs and is primarily concerned about saving money by not purchasing a new Range for us as our current one is inoperable due to a gas leak.very poor services, bad attitude, did not fix the problem, long waiting for the repair person to come, hate call center at Philippine instead of American customer services,
