The dryer worked for one load, and is now broken in the same way as before, it won’t start.

Sucky and disappointing experience. I scheduled an appointment for a dryer repair. Based on the noise it was making (intermittent thumping), I used AI to help diagnose the likely cause, which it suggested was likely a worn/flattened drum support wheel - a very common issue with dryers. Ricky, the experienced tech, arrived in his personal mini-van instead of a company van. His apprentice arrived in a company van. What should have been a quick, 15-minute dis-assembly to diagnose the issue turned into a very protracted affair because this became an on-the-job training session with the apprentice. Upon full disassembly, they confirmed that one of the drum support rollers did indeed have a flat spot, causing the thumping sound I had heard and it needed to be replaced Great...except neither tech had one of the most common problem replacement parts in their vehicles. Ricky explained that his company van that had all of his supplies was on the fritz and he only transferred some replacement parts to his personal van (stupid and not my problem). And of course the apprentice's company van had no supplies (stupider). Because that makes sense -- NOT! Ricky quoted me an initial price of $447 for the repair (parts and labor) but then went out to his van to check if he had the part, which he didn't. He said he'd have to order it, which somehow increased the price by $91 to a total of $538! So because you didn't come to a repair appointment with one of the most common replacement items, I was getting now getting upcharged $91 to obtain the part?? On top of that, the part wouldn't arrive for another 2 weeks, and then I'd have to schedule another appointment subsequent to that to install it. What a cluster! My problem became a live training session, which I understand that's how people learn, but not if I don't get the necessary repair done in that visit. I declined and paid the required $129 diagnostic fee and said I'd find a reputable appliance repair company to take care of the repair. I will never use Sears Home Services again after this experience.

The first appointment was rescheduled after waiting several hours for the tech to arrive because the tech didn't have his van with the appropriate equipment. A different tech showed up on the reschedule day, again without the appropriate equipment since his van was also in the shop. I paid $129 for him to tell me that he thought the problem was with the heating element - then gave me the wrong part number to order. The net is I'm out $129 and my oven still doesn't work.

A repair was performed on the dishwasher. After the technician left, I noticed that the door’s rubber flap (skirt) was hanging below the dishwasher door. I contacted the technician, who returned immediately and addressed the issue. However, a few days later I found a black plastic part on the floor beneath the dishwasher door, which appeared to be part of the door assembly. Upon inspecting the door, I discovered that the rubber flapper was missing.

The technician spoke english as a second language and was difficult to understand. I had to ask him to repeat himself over and over. He quickly established the dryer vent was clogged and did not fix the problem. He ask for payment and left. All in 12 minutes. I am elderly and newly handicapped and didn't appreciate having to hire someone else to fix the problem.

The service guy was rude & tried to leave say it was just a broken knob even though the first service guy said it was the timer. It was know drying hot & I asked him to put in the new timer that was shipped here. He was annoyed & could not wait to leave! AND this is after I waited 2 Full days for someone to show up & they never did!! Not even a call to let me know. Horrible experience.

The quality of Sears maintenance support on major appliances has really gone downhill. The service is terrible. I experienced missed appointments, inability to talk to real people (i.e. AI access only) and now a misdiagnosis of the problem with my washing machine. Sears doesn't seem to care anymore .

In the 15 years I have had Sears service, I have never had such a bad experience. Your technician refused to install the part your previous technician had told me we needed, and had ordered. The 1st technician seemed like a very knowledgeable person. He was also professional, polite, and an easy person to have in my house. The 2nd technician was rude, antagonist, and actually made me feel unsafe in my own home. A man I would describe as someone with a chip on their shoulder, short fuse, prone to outbursts, unpredictable. As long as there is a chance he could show up at our house for service again, I will never call Sears Home Appliance for service again.
