This was an extended warranty repair on a GE dryer. I bought the extended warranty after the dryer element went out when the unit was 8 months old. The repairman was polite, business-like and knew his stuff. I give him 5 stars. The administration of the repair I give 2 stars. My serial # and model for my dryer was noted on the 1st scheduling email but it was called a stacked washer-dryer unit. I went online and left a message on the descrepancy. Though I had originally described the problem that indicated a broken setting selection knob, I think the repairman also thought he was coming to work on a stacked unit. Undaunted he checked out the unit and found other problems besides the controller and had to order parts. (I found it strange they sent the parts to me instead of the repairman.) I had to go online and schedule the repairman's return appointment. From begining to end I was peppered with AI text messages such as offering to reschedule. Then the day of the appointment, while at work, I got an AI text message saying the repairman was unable to come, shortly after the time of arrival. I spent more than 30 minutes getting another time setup, then texted my wife to tell her what was going on and why the repairman hasn't shown up. She said she didn't understand, because the man had just left and the dryer was working as it should. If this is the future with AI, it is at least an unreliable, inaccurate, time consuming nuisance.
Steven K,
Customer service response - We apologize for the confusion and inconvenience with the repair process, Steven. Thank you for your feedback, and we're glad to hear the repairman was polite and knowledgeable.

Update 3/7 Since I couldn't find a meaningful navigation through the VRU or their website, I went through the BBB. I received emails and a call from Transformco, the parent company of SAR. They remedied the situation by overnight FedEx check. I was very grateful. Update 3/2 The phone number in your replay doesn't get me to someone to help with the refund. Update 3/1/2026. They finally issued a refund through CheckIssuing out of Arizona but the dang check is incomplete. The bank won't accept it. Sears is flat awful. No wonder they tanked What can I say? The tech didn't know what the issue was so they ordered everything. The initial bill was over $700. The website and notifications are lousy: poor communication since their initial order of parts got canceled. Any comms about this? Did their AI website or AI VRU offer any clues? Nope. FINALLY found a local number to an offshore call center who told me. So much more. Buyer beware. I'm currently awaiting a reimbursement but I'm not holding my breath of a part that the repair did not need. Sears was great long ago but the bloom has long been off the rose. They're trying to reinvent themselves and glad they're trying but there's a point where the design has missed the mark. Will this review make it to the appropriate team? Doubtful. They're shielded by the AI systems who clearly don't want you to talk to an actual human.

Ask them first if your appliance is on their “VENDOR LIST” before scheduling anything. Didn’t even open to check the equipment, just said the compressor is the problem(diagnosis=nonrefundable diagnosis fee) and let you know that they can’t repair it because it’s not on their vendor list. Great business model. VEVOR is not in their vendor list.

Thr costs were juggled from service call to all Labor. The tech was here for less than 1 hour, no parts were needed but charged me $242.00 for Labor. I am done with Sears and advising everyone I know to avoid this service.
