Horrid is the best way to describe my experience with Sears. First, they only schedule their appointments from "8-5": there isn't a more narrow window, so plan on taking the whole day off work. Secondly, on my initial appointment, after waiting ALL day, I got a call at 4:45 to inform me that the technician wouldn't be arriving that day, so I would have to take yet another day off work. When the technician diagnosed the problem he said that he would need to order a part to fix the problem, and a secondary part "just in case". It was this secondary part that became the problem, as Sears showed it "on back order". Yet, after waiting 2 weeks and still not having the part, I was able to do an easy Google search to find the part on over 20 different sites, all with overnight shipping! My biggest complaint with Sears was their complete lack of communication or ability to actually speak with a representative. When I called, I was lost in a computer phone tree that ALWAYS ended with me being hung up on. When I called my home warranty company, they had a number to actually speak with a call center for Sears. However, the Sears call center was over-seas and not only was the language barrier an obstacle so was their inability to be able to look into their inventory and give an idea when a part was being shipped, if it had been shipped, etc. Each call ended with Sears promising to research into the problem and to follow up with me. Not one time during my entire wait did I recieve an email, phone call, or even a letter of explanation. After A MONTH AND A HALF of waiting on a part that is easily obtained otherwise, and well over 15 phone calls to my warranty company: each with a promise to follow up, I suddenly and with no warning recieved the random part. Then I recieved an email stating that a technician would arrive at my house at such date, between 8-5. They didn't even have the courtesy to call to schedule the appointment! When the technician arrived at my house, unannounced: with no phone call, no text message, I had to scramble too secure my did so he could come do the work.
John M,
He never came to the home he left me a voicemail stating that I needed to call my home warranty to let them know it was my dryer and not washer
Linette W,
• The tech was nice and on time. • The person that took my call yesterday, told me the repair on my dryers heating element would cost about $250 and that there was a $100 fee for the tech to show up that would be included in the fee. The actual cost of the repair was going to be $578. I only paid $700 for the dryer. I told the guy on the phone if the repair was going to cost more than $400 not to worry about coming out as I would just go buy a new dryer. He assured me that it wouldn't. I took the day off work for the repair that didn't happen and now I'm out $100. What a rip off!
Jeremy L,
Called to tell me he would be at my house in 30 minutes but had the wrong address and was here three hours later. When he got here he worked on the range for an hour but couldn’t fix it or figure out the part to order. I need to have someone else come out to figure out the part and another appointment to fix it. That will be three days taking off work. That is if I can even get a hold of someone to schedule an appointment. This warranty seems like a waste of money.
