Success, at long last.
I am so grateful to Elisue M for his courtesy, efficiency and professionalism. I've been trying to get my range repaired since November, and the process of working with Assurant and Sears Home Repairs has been a nightmare - until Elisue. Another technician canceled on me twice late in the day, the part they sent was broken, and manipulating the website and dealing with the call center was the complete opposite of customer service. But Elisue was the one shining light - he fixed the stovetop in 20 minutes and apologized profusely for the terrible service I'd encountered. That man deserves a big raise! He's the ONLY person, out of (no lie!) at least 20 contacts that cared and actually helped me.
