Sears installed a central a/c system in my home on 7/27/13 with a 1 year warranty. When the warranty period was up, I received a letter from Sears wanting to know if I would like to extend the warranty for a 1. 2 or 3 year period. I chose the 3 years. I called Sears for a preventative maintenance check and a tech came to my home on 3/31/15 to do the check and she informed me that only half of the central a/c system was covered. She said the outside compressor was covered, but not the inside air handler. This feels like a ripoff to me.

$2500, 5 year old Kenmore refrigerator. Stopped cooling. First visit , the technician unplugged it, plugged it back in, and declared it repaired. Under customer instruction was charged $75. Still no cooling, of course. 2nd visit the technician checked coolant level and found none. No charge, but technician said we needed to check for a leak 3rd visit was charged over $300 to check for a leak with a dye put in. However he could find no sign of a leak. Declared the unit repaired. Still cooling from recharge, put in with dye, but will no doubt leak out. So, $400 spent for no repair done whatsoever. Amazing that Kenmore Elite refrigerator is dead after 5 1/2 years.. It had a 5 year warranty of course.

The gentleman who came out to service my AC unit was Great. He was friendly and knowledgeable, my problem was with Sears' in general. To begin with, they gave me a service window of 1pm-7pm. There is no working a half a day with that window; I needed to take a last minute vacation day. By the time the technician showed up it was 7:45pm. Looks like I could have worked after all. Then there is the diagnostic fee. Most places will charge this fee, as a way to make s Re you don't waste the technicians time. But if you have repairs done, it will be taken out of the labor cost. Not with Sears. I got to pay the diagnostic fee, the parts fee, and the labor fee. And no discounts for being outside their window. I used Sears because it was a kenmore unit. Next time I will use a local guy.

The repairman was courteous and promptly fixed what was needed. However, I was extremely disappointed due to the fact I made my issue clear over the phone which a quick reset was all was needed for the unit...basically pressing a button on the unit. This resulted in a $100 charge since a service man was dispatched. Therefore, I believe a quick resolution was to have a service technician call first to quickly solve the issue over the phone would of saved me a unnecessary charge.

This has been absolutely worst experience ever. We have had the washer for 13 months, haven't been able to use it for 5 months. After numerous service men came to repair, and did absolutely nothing, we did finally get Dennis that fixed the issue that previous servicemen said nothing was wrong. However I am still not satisfied, my 13 month old washer is so rusted it will not last my 5 year warranty. Sears will do nothing to change this out. We spent the money on the washer, then the additional 5 year warranty and of course the added expense of going to the laundromat twice a week for 5 months. This is not including any gas or labor that I had to spend. Where Sears used to be the best in the business - now all they want is your money. This explains why Sears is going out of business.
