You can ever get anyone to call you back when you have an issue with a repair technician. Most of the time, they have subcontractors working for Sears not Sears technicians.

I called to get a service completed on the Maytag Fridge/Freezer (only 3 years old). The ice maker in my fridge kept freezing over with water. The service team that came out was very nice and friendly, explained that there was a problem with the water valve leaking, which then caused leaking water to freeze over the ice maker. They were nice and cleared out the stuck ice, and put the fridge back together, they stated that the ice maker should work perfectly . They explained the cost to repair the leaking water valve, but it was approximately 1/3 of the fridge cost so I declined the additional repair on the freezer and paid the service fee for them coming out. Once they left and a new batch of ice was made, I tried to get ice from and nothing was coming out. After inspecting the ice maker it seems like the little bar that moves to get the ice out wasn't working properly. This was NEVER an issue prior to the diagnostic and was completely unrelated to why I scheduled the appointment in the first place, so I concluded there must have been some small issue when the repair team put the ice machine back together. I called Sears Home appliance number and explained the situation and just asked if I could have someone come out and just fix whatever mistake had been made. The rep said sure and gave me a date two weeks from now, and while I didn't want to wait two weeks for a fix they created I said fine. Then they stated explaining that they would provide an estimate and bill or repair, or charge me another $99 diagnosis charge if I declined. And then I said no, this problem only occurred due to my service from YESTERDAY with Sears, I will not pay more money to fix something your team broke. So then the rep said hold on and transferred me to someone that could help. So I calmly explained the situation a second time and they said they understood, and stated they would send someone out in two weeks to help, and I asked "Will I be charged for this" and they said no, so I said that date worked and they went through the email contacts and the whole spiel about cancellation, etc. And then I said okay, and then the service rep went on to tell me the same thing, I would be charged for a diagnostic fee or for parts and labor. And I said hold on. No I will not pay for something that was broken due to the last service. And they said well if it is the same issue as yesterday's service you won't be. so I explained again that it wouldn't be the same because this was NEVER an issue prior to them taking apart the ice maker. I asked if Sears as a company makes an assurance or customer care to not break an appliance MORE than it was prior to an appointment and the service rep said well you can talk to customer service, so I asked for that phone number and said thank you and hung up. I called the customer service number provided and it took me back to the original call menu options that I started with in the first place. So now, not only am I out $100, I have to call a second company to come fix what Sears broke. Absolutely ridiculous. I called Sears hoping to not get screwed over by a appliance repair service but just ended up with a bill and a bigger headache. Beware if you are going this route.

What a nightmare! ZERO STARS This is not the old Sears repair service it use to be, far from it. I tried to get our lightly used and very expensive (and only 5 years old), microwave fixed so it wouldn't end up in a landfill. It just needed a new part. But not a job I was skilled enough to tackle.. First - The the $250 diagnostic fee is crazy. Second - Communicating with a live human is near impossible. I had to live chat my way through the entire painful process, which took a month +. Third - The part arrived poorly packed and completely broken and useless. Then once another new part arrived none of the 4 different techs new what to do and the they where never able to fix my appliance because each one before the other didn't know what was really wrong. After a month of the microwave not being fixed, Sears not being able to coordinate techs, them not arriving at all, and if they did, they said they couldn't do the work that day for some reason. So after a month of this I just gave up! Sadly I had to buy a new Microwave. I took out the old one and installed the new one over the range myself in less then 40 mins. Don't trust Sears anymore. Call someone, anyone else!
Kendyll,
Worst experience and I am still waiting for my refrigerator to be fixed. I have been waiting for 2 days for a tech to arrive. This is now my 3rd day. I have had 1 phone call yesterday from dispatch promising that a tech would be here yesterday. I waited all day, it kept being pushed back by 15 min. Then I received a reschedule at 7pm last night. I am now the last appointment of the day today with a tech who dispatch promised would never be sent to my property again. I cannot get a live person on the phone. I've been promised phone calls and nothing. The parts are waiting here to be installed. I cannot believe this is what Sears repair has degenerated to. Absolute worst customer service and lack of professionalism I have experienced from any company.
Heather Y,
They use an affiliate named A& E Factory Appliance Repair, which has a one star average on yelp. Also, it's impossible to get a human on the phone. No option to even send email to customer service.
Ren R,
Uses the Sears name but a complete different name when they show up. $99 service quoted $1172 to fix I think I paid $400 for this dryer 2 years ago. How do companies like this says in business?
