Terrible service. Technician concluded oven was locked (which I told them when I ordered service) and he couldn’t do anything . Waste of money

I scheduled a service tech to come and evaluate my Gas oven, at my lake cabin, that stopped working I was contacted and scheduled an appointment. They did not show up. It was incredibly rude to not even call or text me that the service person could not come. I drove 1.5 hours, Monday evening, to be at my cabin on Tuesday at 8 am as they requested. They don’t give you an appointment time, just say you must be there from 8 am - 5pm. I waited around for hours for someone to come. I had no way to contact them, and attempted repeatedly to work with the robot call person without success. Then after waiting all afternoon, I had to drive 1.5 hours home again, without receiving any service, completely wasted my day and time. They obviously don't understand that they are supposed to treat people with respect. I would never recommend them to anyone.

It took nearly 3 weeks for a repair that could have taken less than a week, with a lack of compassion or concern for the customer. Starting with a ‘diagnostic’ appointment where my washer wasn’t even opened by technician Mickey to diagnose - could have been determined over the phone and/or leveraging the same information that was given when I reported the issue. Then, wait nearly a week for the parts to arrive. Next, a canceled repair appointment by Sears to install the parts, and unwillingness to accommodate a sooner reschedule date. At my rescheduled appointment 8 days later, a different tech came (he was helpful, I think his name was Frank) and quickly saw the wrong parts were ordered; interesting as I recall the first tech complain when trying to identify which parts to order that the washer was ‘too new’ and couldn’t find the model/parts number which in hindsight I conclude that meant he guessed with the a previous model hoping that would work when in fact it didn’t - but the helpful repairman (Frank) took the time to search through the part models and ensure a match to the proper part before ordering. Now we have to wait for parts to arrive again, and finally after 20 days I have a functioning washing machine - the part replacement took less than 5 minutes. Sears has NO WAY to get in contact with a human or manager to raise concerns - you are left with a technician that only cares they are abiding by Sears rules and when asking if he could try to find a sooner time he said, go to the laundromat, even when I shared that I have a son with special needs and especially needed to be able to have a working washing machine in my home. I’m sad to have such a horrible experience and don’t wish it upon anyone else. I missed 3 days of work in the office waiting for my repair appointments - Sears only gives a window from 8-5 with nothing more specific given until an hour before they will arrive. They truly don’t factor in any aspect of the customer experience.

Title: Incompetent Diagnosis, Non-Existent Support, and a Total Lack of Accountability Summary: Sears Home Services misdiagnosed a 10-minute fix as a catastrophic failure, costing me the price of their service fee plus a brand new washer, and the remaining value on my existing washer. They are impossible to contact to resolve the issue. The Experience: The technician who came to my home was friendly and on time. He quickly diagnosed our Maytag washer and concluded it had a failed gearbox, stating the repair cost would exceed the value of the appliance. Trusting his professional assessment, I paid the $175 service fee and proceeded to buy a new washer setting me back over $1000. The Truth: A scrapper who picked up the old washer was kind enough to inspect it. He discovered the actual problem: a loose drive nut. The repair took him less than 10 minutes, and the washer is now fully functional. The "catastrophic failure" was a simple tightening of a nut. The "Company": When I attempted to report this gross negligence, I discovered that Sears Home Services seems to operate as a ghost company. You cannot reach a human being—their phone line is managed by an AI, and there's no physical office or management structure to appeal to. They simply dispatch local 1099 technicians, assuming zero responsibility for their work. This lack of oversight and accountability is alarming. A simple mistake, which any competent technician should have caught, ended up costing me well over $1,000. Do not trust them with your appliances.

Horrible Service and Refund Experience My experience with this company has been a complete disaster. I initially contacted them in September 2024 for repairs on my LG oven, and after three service appointments, multiple parts ordered, and hundreds of dollars paid, my oven was still not fixed. Here’s what I paid: September 24th: $439.90 (credit card) October 2nd: $150.36 (credit card) October 15th: $100.12 (check) After all of this, Frank, the last service technician, assured me on his final visit that I would be refunded $620.88 within 10–14 days. That never happened. I called on November 18th, and another representative told me I would get my credit card refund in 14 days and my check refund within 30 days. I was also told my husband would receive an email with refund details the same day. None of that happened. I followed up again and was told I wouldn’t receive my refund until the end of December—three months after this ordeal started. Even worse, I was informed they couldn’t even send me an email confirming the refund dates. From December 9, 2024, to January 3, 2025, I emailed their accounting department every single day, begging for a response. Finally, on January 3rd, after threatening to contact the authorities, they responded. Refund to credit card: Processed on January 6, 2025 Refund by check: Received on January 10, 2025 This process took over four months of constant follow-ups, unkept promises, and frustration. I wouldn’t wish this experience on anyone. If you’re considering this company for any service, beware. Their lack of professionalism, accountability, and customer service is appalling. Save yourself the headache and look elsewhere.

Sears used text messages to diagnose the problem with the machine. It was two weeks from the work order creation before anyone physically walked in to my house to look at the washing machine. The text message diagnosis and parts were wrong so new parts were ordered. It took 10 days for the new part to arrive only for the technician to deem the machine unfixable. 5 days short of one month! UPDATE: Sears replied and told me to contact them through the website or 800 number. No where in either place can you find a solution to this problem. If I wasn't frustrated already, this about put me over.
