James had an excellent understanding of our refrigerator problem. Also, he was a very pleasant person. Even though James did excellent work, Sears was extremely negligent in that it took nearly 6 weeks to receive the part (compressor). I called Whirlpool parts and they verified that the compressor needed was and had been available for the entire time. Seems that Sears simply was not interested in ordering the compressor and really did not care about the customer.

The single biggest challenge for appliances in the Sunset Park and Paradise area is Las Vegas's very hard water — among the hardest in the country at roughly 270 to 290 parts per million. That mineral load leaves limescale on faucets, showerheads, and inside the water-fed parts of nearly every appliance. Add a hot desert climate with dozens of days above 100°F each summer, and cooling and drying systems work overtime. Many homes here date from the 1970s and 1980s on estate-sized lots, and older units feel the strain first. Our manufacturer-trained technicians see these patterns constantly and repair most major brands, no matter where you bought the appliance.
When a refrigerator stops cooling in a Las Vegas home, hard water is often part of the story. Mineral scale clogs ice maker lines and water dispensers, forcing more frequent filter changes and sometimes full descaling. The dry desert heat also pushes compressors and condenser coils harder, especially in older 1970s and 1980s units common in the Sunset Park area. Worn door gaskets let cooled air escape into a hot kitchen, making the system run nonstop. Our technicians check refrigerant levels, coils, seals, and the ice and water system in one visit. A yearly coil cleaning is a simple preventive step that helps extend the life of the unit.
A washer that won't spin or drain is one of the most common laundry calls we get across Las Vegas. With water hardness around 16 to 17 grains per gallon, scale builds up in inlet valves, hoses, and heating elements, which also reduces detergent efficiency and leaves residue on clothes. Many Charleston and Sunset-area homes have compact laundry closets or garage installs that make standard-capacity machines work harder. A clogged drain pump, a failed lid switch, or a worn belt can all stop the spin cycle. We diagnose the exact cause and provide a locked-in quote before any repair. Periodic cleaning cycles help fight mineral buildup between service visits.
When a dryer stops producing heat, the culprit is usually a failed heating element, a blown thermal fuse, or restricted airflow. Older single-story ranch homes in Charleston and the 89120 area sometimes have long or winding dryer vent runs that trap lint and choke airflow. The low desert humidity actually helps clothes dry faster, but a blocked vent still creates a fire risk and shortens the appliance's life. Our technicians test the heating circuit, thermostats, and venting to find the real problem. Keeping vents clear is one of the easiest ways to prevent repeat failures.
Hard water is a leading cause of cloudy glassware and limescale inside Las Vegas dishwashers. Those same mineral deposits clog spray arms and diverters, so dishes come out dirty even after a full cycle. Drainage problems often trace back to a blocked filter, a clogged drain hose, or a failing pump. Leaks may come from a worn door seal or a cracked water inlet valve stiffened by scale. We inspect the full water path and seals, then give you an exact quote before repair. Running a descaling cleaner regularly keeps mineral buildup in check.
Ovens in the Las Vegas area range from older gas and electric ranges in midcentury Charleston homes to updated stainless-steel units in renovated properties. Uneven heating usually points to a faulty bake or broil element, a worn igniter on gas models, or a temperature sensor that has drifted out of calibration. If food cooks unevenly or takes longer than it should, the sensor or element is often to blame. Our technicians test each component and recalibrate or replace as needed. Fixing the issue promptly keeps energy use down and avoids the cost of replacing an otherwise good range.
In a climate with 78-plus days over 100°F, air conditioning and heat pumps are critical, and they take a beating every summer. Capacitor failures, compressor strain, and low refrigerant are routine calls, and refrigerant work requires EPA-certified handling. Heat pumps that both cool and heat see year-round wear, while gas furnaces get lighter use during the mild Las Vegas winters but still need seasonal checks. Some homeowners also add humidification to counter the very low indoor humidity. Sears Home Services repairs central air, heat pumps, and furnaces, and a yearly tune-up before summer helps prevent breakdowns during the hottest stretch.
Every repair starts with a diagnostic visit that runs $90 to $150 depending on the appliance, and that fee is waived if you proceed with the repair. After diagnosing the problem, your technician provides an exact quote covering parts and labor — and that price is locked in once provided, so there are no surprises.
We're available six days a week with early morning to evening appointments. Same-day appointments may be available in your area, so check for same-day availability when you schedule online or call. We'll always confirm your window by email and text.

Most refrigerators last around 10 to 15 years. If yours is under about 8 years old and the repair costs less than half the price of a new unit, repair is usually the smart choice — especially in Las Vegas, where hard-water scale on ice and water systems is often a fixable issue rather than a sign of end-of-life failure. Your technician can advise based on the exact diagnosis.
First, schedule online or by phone and pick a convenient window. Your manufacturer-trained technician then diagnoses the issue on-site and gives you an exact quote before any work begins. Once you approve, we complete the repair, test the appliance, and back the work with a service guarantee.
Yes. After the on-site diagnosis, your technician provides an exact quote for parts and labor. That quote is locked in once provided and won't change. You approve the cost before any work begins — and if you decline, you pay only the diagnostic fee.
Our technicians provide appliance repair throughout Las Vegas and nearby communities, including the Sunset Park and Paradise area, Charleston, Downtown Las Vegas, Huntridge, and the John S. Park neighborhood. We cover a wide service radius across the southeastern and central valley, six days a week.
It does. Las Vegas water is among the hardest in the country, and mineral scale builds up inside dishwashers, washing machines, water heaters, and refrigerator water and ice systems. That buildup reduces efficiency and causes clogs and spotting. Regular descaling and filter changes help, and our technicians can address scale-related failures during any service call.
Simple maintenance goes a long way here. Clean refrigerator condenser coils once or twice a year to fight the desert heat, run a descaling cleaner through your dishwasher and washer to combat hard water, keep dryer vents clear for airflow and safety, and schedule an HVAC tune-up before summer. Yearly preventive maintenance catches small problems before they become expensive repairs.
