I did not have a problem with the technician. He was courteous and polite. I did have a problem with the fact that I was charged $99 to "diagnose" the problem when I already told them what the problem was. Then, even though I sent the model number of the appliance so that they could have the necessary parts to fix it, they came without the necessary parts and it could not be fixed. Also, the part would have cost me $60, but the labor would have cost approximately $375.00, so almost $450.00 total. I don't think I should have been charged the diagnostic fee if they were not in a position to fix the problem that they said they would fix just because they didn't come prepared.

Sears has really disappointed us over the last few years. They are not sufficiently honoring o warranties anymore. We were entitled to a dishwasher replacement. We had to get to absolute bottom level model. Installation was included in the replacement as well as a haul away of the old unit. The new washing machine say in our living room for four weeks because Sears couldn’t find an installer. They gave us the option of finding our own installer and they would pay for the install as long as it didn’t exceed $120… there’s no plumber on earth that will install a dishwasher for less than $350… sears wouldn’t cover the difference. THEN we have a yearly maintenance plan on our central air unit where Sears is supposed to send someone out to clean and service the unit once a year. The thing is if you don’t remember to call them and schedule it they won’t remind you. After 3 years of not taking advantage of this service i finally scheduled a maintenance call. The first two appointments the installer stood us up. three weeks later finally some one comes. He doesn’t even open up the unit. He looks at it and concludes that since it hadn’t been cleaned in a few years I would need to schedule a $250 “repair” service… mind you my a/c is working. So he leaves without doing anything to my unit. He didn’t even bring tools from his van. He leaves and puts in his notes SERVICE COMPLETED. it’s been two moreweeks now and I had to get my case escalated. Now it’s my word against his. Every customer service rep i have spoken to seems to somewhere in another part of the world. SEARS HAS REALLY GONE INTO THE TOILET. Im frustrated and disappointed!

He came and quickly found the problem. He suggested replacement of the water heater. Update on second day- It turns out that he never submitted the replacement request on hotline to Sears. We are back to square and he is now our worst experience from Sear service. Sears now sending another technician today to do the same job he must have competed yesterday. Update on 9/20/2024: This is getting worse. I received email from Sear that my payment will be $1,498.00 I purchased my power vent water hear for $1,325 and paid for installation (includes delivery, haul away) $425, total amount to $1,750. Thereafter they sent me surprising unrealists low estimate . I have submitted by claim based on their email and waiting for the check. I have also contacted the consumer affairs NJ. I request all those who have been deceived to contact me so that we can ask Consumer affairs to bring class action law suit again Sear Service. I am planning to put the case this on all social media

"Technician was in our house for about 20 mins. The tech inspected the stove and scanned the bar code then when we were informed what was wrong and that parts were no longer avialable to repair the controller. Today, Christmas, our son and his family were here. We told him the story. He went on line and it 30 seconds found the 'unavailable' part. Ordered it and will be here next week to install it. Your organization is a total rip off and it's no wonder you're going out of business. We had no problem w/ the technician. He courteous and neat and on time." Beware.

The technician was very rude at the time of arrival and did not introduce himself as a Sears Tech. Also, he said that it was 4 p.m. And he was coming to see what was the problem with my appliances as it was my fault for him being late for my appointment. Not professional, very rude, and not communicative at all, and you can't get a smile on his face.

I felt the cost was excessive and not competitive. My understanding from website when I booked was diagnostic was $129/$137. The bill was $341 and it did not include any parts. The time spent was not more than 45 mins. This was all labor costs. Therefore the total cost was really $470! No parts and not even 1 hour of labor. He unjammed the latch?

False advertisement and terrible service. They really harped that they could do same day repairs or at worst, next day because they have a “high stock” of parts. Tech shows up says it’ll take 2 weeks to get the part and it would cost $658 to fix a washer that cost LESS THAN THAT. In what world?? Labor $370?? For that I can order a new washer and get it faster from Lowe’s. The $140 diagnosis fee was the cherry on top. Avoid if you value your time.
