He was on time. Called me 5 minutes before arriving at my home. Not much of a talking person. However did his job. Notwithstanding, testing to see if there was leak, I noticed the front door of the washer and dryer combo wasn’t closing properly. I called the service technician and left him a voicemail. He hasn’t gotten back to me. Currently, the leak stopped but the door that once close freely without putting much pressure to close it has to be done that way. I think while installing the gasket he might have not installed the door properly. Please call me when you read my message. Thank you!

We had an extremely disappointing and frustrating experience with both the Sears repair technician and the Lowe’s Assurant claims process. From the start, the technician arrived unprepared—driving an unmarked vehicle with out-of-state plates—and immediately asked to borrow a step stool, which should have been standard equipment for the job. He then scheduled a follow-up visit, ordered a part, and gave us a return date that was weeks out. Both the original and follow-up appointments were scheduled in all-day time windows (8 AM to 5 PM), forcing us to take two full days off work. On the day of the second appointment, the technician simply didn’t show up. Despite multiple attempts to speak with a live representative, the automated system would not connect me to one—even after specifically requesting it. When I called to ask why the technician missed the appointment and to reschedule, the AI system merely repeated that he was still expected to arrive by 5 PM, which never happened. Eventually, I had to call the Lowe’s warranty company, Assurant, who rescheduled us with the same repair provider—Sears—and the same technician. When he finally did arrive, he was dismissive, unapologetic, and made it clear that he “just goes where Sears tells him” and that it wasn’t his problem. However, he had been the one who set the appointment. All in all, this process took over two and a half weeks—our claim was filed on June 27 and the repair wasn’t completed until July 16. We lost three full workdays waiting on no-shows and vague appointment windows. It’s unacceptable. If you’re considering purchasing a Lowe’s Assurant warranty, be aware: they often rely on third-party service providers like Sears, whose service quality falls far below what’s advertised. This was one of the worst service experiences we’ve had. Ask yourself—can you really afford to be without a key appliance for nearly three weeks or to lose multiple days of work waiting for unreliable service?

This is the second time, with the second appliance, that the tech didn’t fix our problem. This most recent time (this week) tech came back after two weeks because he had to order the part he needed. Took about an hour, he declared the problem was fixed (no water from water dispenser). It indeed was but later that night quit working again. Thankfully, it was done under warranty but now I have to call warranty company back and tell them problem is still there…frustrating.
