Sears Home Service, from an appointment making and parts/detail tracking perspective, was one of the worst experiences I've had in recent memory. Making the first appointment was easy enough - a tech arrived within the 4 hour time block, couldn't complete the repair and needed to order parts; all fair. I had to pay for the parts AND repair time upfront, almost $500. The parts arrive at my home 3 days after they were ordered and 2 days before my follow up appointment. It then took seven weeks (SEVEN) to get the repair completed. The automated system could not comprehend that my parts were delivered/arrived. Every time I made an appointment, the system would auto-cancel my appointment within 24 hours of it's start time because it thought the parts weren't delivered yet. Each time I had to contact Sears to clarify that I DID indeed have the parts, all I could get were automated systems and no options to talk to a human being. I had to use Live Chat to get someone to update my order to show the parts were indeed delivered, and get a new appointment scheduled. Only for the next appointment to be auto-canceled because, you guessed it, the parts 'were delayed.' After several of these canceled appointments and hours upon hours of my time wasted, I finally got a tech to my house again....who couldn't install the parts....because he didn't understand how to disassemble my Kenmore range (Kenmore is a Sears brand, mind you). He needed to request another new appointment, with a 'tech helper' that would arrive to support him. This appointment never happened because once the appointment was rescheduled, the system thought that the parts were (you guessed it) delayed. I finally found a path to a human who got the worst version of me, and their only offer of reconciliation was that after my parts were installed, I could submit a form for a $50 refund. For my final appointment, a wonderful man in his 50's or 60's arrived and simply took the top of the range apart, installed the new parts, and put it back together. Something that easily could have happened within 7 days of the original appointment. Great final tech, awful customer service, awful digital systems and awful phone support systems. If you can avoid using them, do yourself a favor and find an alternative option.
