He didn't fix it. He said it wasn't the suspension rods, but when the machine was on a spin cycle with a regular load of clothes it would go off balance. He said it was the board of the machine and between the cost of that part and for it to be installed we found it was just better to replace the machine. I still had to pay the $129 for the service call.

Unfortunately, having been a long time (over 20 years) consumer of Sears, this experience today was unacceptable. We had a new washer (approximately 1.5 years old) stopped functioning - no water service to unit due to a faulty valve. It took almost 2 weeks to receive the small part ordered by Sears and get an install appointment. We were scheduled for an 8 am to noon appointment. We had a doctor’s appointment at 4 pm. It was a simple install - unplug old valve and reattach the new one. At 8:30 am the serviceman called and told my husband that he would be there at 12:01 pm. That time was still going to work for us. After 12pm, then 1 pm came and went; then 2 pm went by and no one called or showed up from Sears, I called the serviceman, but there was no answer. I spent 20 minutes navigating the phone prompts to try to reach a human being. No option for customer service. I did reach someone, and was told that the serviceman would call me. That a message was sent to the serviceman and he was heading our way. No such call arrived. Needless to say, by this time, I was very upset. Our repair person arrived after 4 and it took him 15 minutes to install the part. Sears has left us hanging without due cause. I am extremely disappointed in the manner our appointment was handled. Apparently the repair person was overbooked and therefore was not able to get to us within the scheduled time. As the consumer we have the right to expect punctuality and Sears has the obligation to fulfill their scheduling. I hope we will not have this experience in the future.

5 stars for the tech Tom. He was friendly, knowledgeable and did a great job! But $286 for the labor? He was here for a total of 1/2 hour. But the job is done and my washer is working so I'm happy for that.
