The man was very pleasant. However, he had no clue how to fix my model dishwasher. I had looked it up before making the appointment, but feared I’d break the tab inside, so I chose to pay for the service. He came, didn’t know how to get the part off. I showed home the Utube video but he still didn’t understand. I showed him another one and he still didn’t get it. He called someone, but they weren’t available. So he watched the Utube more carefully and tried again. Got it. Yeah. Cleaned out the filter. All is good. Then he said the charge was $90. But then said $160. I said I thought the diagnosis fee (the fee for the man to come to my house, was dismissed if I had it fixed.) He said it was added to his charge. From what I read when I made this appointment was, the diagnostic charge of $129 is waived when I have it fixed. I expected a min charge of $129. I disagree with what I was charged. Please advise.

We had a bad experience this time. The service itself was fine and the technician very knowledgeable. The trouble came with the appointment. We were initially scheduled the day before from 9-5. We sat around all day waiting. A technician called us around 4 and said that they could not come today since it was late and the company would not approve OT. After expressing my dismay, they did schedule us for the next day but again we had to wait all day until he finally arrived around 3 with no apology. No wonder Sears is no more.

Paul I,

Customer service response - We apologize for the inconvenience with the scheduling, Paul. We're glad to hear the technician was knowledgeable, and we appreciate your feedback to help us improve our service.

To whom it may concern, Your technician came to service my appliances today. My oven wasn't working and was told that to fix it would be an expense. Your technician ended up not cleaning the range and proceeded to vacuum my dishwasher and refrigerator. He still charged $179 for the three appliances even though he serviced only two. After he left, I went ahead and cleaned the part of the oven front controls that wasn't working. After, when I pressed the controls, it worked (see photo attached). This showed that there was a connection issue and now my oven works. I fixed it. I think that it is unfair that he charged for all three appliances when he only cleaned two. I would like you to consider a partial reimbursement. Thank you for your consideration in this matter. AN UPDATE IN RESPONSE TO THE SEARS CLEANING SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE WHO RESPONDED TO THIS POST: Your "response" to my complaint is to placate me and for the public to think that you dealt with it. The contact information you supplied leads to a black hole. It's virtually impossible to speak with a representative. You have no intention of righting this issue. This shows that you business practices are deceitful and aims to exploit people, especially people like me, a widow. I will never work with you again nor will I ever recommend you to anyone. Tech was courteous but didn’t arrive until over an hour after receiving the text he was on the way. I didn’t receive a call at all during the day. Was only here 10-15 minutes which is the fastest PM check I ever experienced on my furnace and he was on the phone part of the time. I think Sears processed have deteriorated over the years.

Wesley C,

Customer service response - Thank you for the great review! We're thrilled to hear our technician met your expectations with their professionalism and expertise.

Schedule properly and do it realistically. Don’t call me at the end of the day and tell me the tech I am waiting will come in two days. Update me with the word that we are the first call in the morning and then show up at 5pm

This is all electronic scheduling mechanism. That’s very difficult when a technician orders wrong part and does not show up on the date of service, there is no way to talk to someone and figure out the solution. You will have to wait for another week when “hopefully” a technician will show up. Not happy with the overall service took more than 20 days to change a timer on washer with multiple rescheduling and wrong part ordered.

A. The service technician (Michael R) did not show up when scheduled. Nor was advance warning given that he would be 2 hours early. He showed up at 11:15am for a 1pm scheduled service so I was not able to meet and talk with him. This is despite an automated system calling me twice to confirm he would be there between 1pm and 3pm. B. Michael R did not have a real method to fix the oven. He suggested we crowbar the door open and then replace the door, the locking motor and latch, and the main computer board. That cost is probably $1300 to $1500. The other alternative is to purchase a new combo oven. Also prohibitive as Bosch comb units run about $5000 to $8000 before tax and installation. This was all unnecessary had he known what to do. C. I'd like to give Michael R. constructive feedback so he has a better alternative next time he runs into. Unfortunately Sears Appliance Repair has no way to share this feedback either via phone or email, and apparently has no customer service department for their appliance repair service. Here is what the technician Michael R. should know: To unlock a locked Bosch Oven Door (Bosch model HBL5751UCC/03). 1. To unlock, put the oven in self cleaning mode by setting both dials to Self Clean. Then press the "+" button to pick a time. Initial value will be 3:00 hours. 2. Let the clean cycle run for 2 minutes. Then turn both dials to Off. 3. Wait another minute or two for the red "Self Cleaning" indicator to turn off. The door will now be unlocked. Result: the oven works fine now.

Saul came to repair my refrigerator. Right away he was annoyed, rude and exacerbated. Refused to take a sears issued coupon for $25. He was only interested in collecting $450 for labor “for the next time we come back.”
