What a huge disaapointment, Sears! I scheduled a washing machine repair with Sears expecting a knowledgeable technician, but the experience was extremely disappointing. Before arriving, David asked several questions about the brand, model, and issue, which I assumed was part of preparing for the visit. However, once he arrived, it became clear he did not know how to diagnose the problem. He looked at the machine, wrote down the model number, and referred to a small instruction sheet and the washer’s manual. Even though the machine was displaying error codes, he could not explain what they meant. Despite repeatedly saying he wasn’t sure what the issue was, he provided an estimate of $822.16 to replace the main board—more than the cost of a new washing machine. He described on the estimate that it was for parts and labor of a front loader when I have a top loader machine. During the visit he also spent a lot of time suggesting which machine I should buy, which was not advice I asked for. I paid $119 for the service call and did not receive a proper assessment. Very disappointing. I ended up purchasing a brand-new washer from Lowe's for $698 instead.
