Sears tech is great, the tracking app is terrible!
Michael was very knowledgeable and competent. However the Sears tracking app was horrible! Starting at 8:10 am, it incorrectly estimated his arrival about every 20 minutes. Michael did not actually arrive at our house until 5:00 pm. We were stuck at the house all day long because the app kept estimating his arrival. The app never announced his arrival or any correct information.

Hard groundwater is one of the biggest quiet threats to appliances in Waupaca. Central Wisconsin sits on mineral-rich aquifers, and the resulting scale builds up inside dishwashers, washing machines, and water heaters over time. Layer on a humid continental climate — with January humidity that can push toward 90% and winters that hover near single digits — and appliances here face real seasonal stress. Many homes along the West Fulton Street corridor were built in the early 1900s with compact kitchens and tight laundry spaces, while newer additions on the edges of the city have room for full-size units. Our manufacturer-trained technicians know how these local conditions show up in day-to-day breakdowns.
A refrigerator that won't hold temperature is one of the most urgent calls we get. In older West Fulton-area homes with vintage kitchens, standard-depth refrigerators are common, and their door seals take a beating from high indoor humidity during Waupaca's damp winter months. Condensation can accelerate gasket wear, letting cold air escape and forcing the compressor to run longer. Other culprits include failing condenser fans, frost-clogged evaporator coils, and worn temperature sensors. We diagnose the exact cause and repair it rather than pushing a full replacement. Cleaning condenser coils once or twice a year is a simple preventive step that helps units run efficiently.
When a washer won't spin or drain, the water sitting in the drum is a clear sign something's blocked or failing. Waupaca's hard groundwater is a leading cause of scale buildup that stresses pumps, valves, and hoses over the years. Rental units around downtown often run standard top-loaders, while owner-occupied homes in newer additions may have higher-capacity front-loaders — both are vulnerable to mineral deposits. Common failures include clogged drain pumps, worn drive belts, broken lid switches, and faulty control boards. A water softener can meaningfully extend a washer's life in this area. We repair most major brands and carry commonly needed parts.
Waupaca winters make outdoor drying impractical for months, so dryers run hard from fall through spring. Heavy usage combined with restricted venting is a frequent cause of no-heat complaints. In older brick homes along historic corridors, laundry is often tucked into basements or closets with long or tight vent runs that trap lint and moisture. A blocked vent forces the dryer to overheat and shut down, and it's also a fire risk worth taking seriously. Failed heating elements, thermal fuses, and thermostats are other common causes. We recommend having your vent line checked periodically, especially in vintage homes.
Because water quality matters so much locally, hard water and mineral scale are the primary reasons dishwashers here underperform. Scale coats spray arms and heating elements, leaving dishes cloudy and cycles incomplete. Drainage problems and leaks often trace back to clogged filters, worn door gaskets, or failing drain pumps stressed by mineral buildup. Many homeowners in the area install softening systems, which help — but repairs are still needed when components wear out. We diagnose the leak or drainage issue at its source and provide an exact quote before any work begins. Periodic cleaning cycles with a descaler help keep hard-water deposits in check.
Waupaca kitchens run a mix of electric and gas ranges, and compact older kitchens along the historic west side often have standard 30-inch models rather than pro-style units. Uneven baking usually points to a failing bake or broil element on electric ranges, or a worn igniter on gas models. Burners that won't light, inaccurate temperatures, and faulty oven sensors are also frequent repair needs. A miscalibrated thermostat can throw off every recipe you bake. Our technicians test heating performance across the oven cavity and repair the specific failed component, so you're not paying for parts you don't need.
Heating and cooling is the single largest service driver in Waupaca, and the reason is simple: winters here are freezing, snowy, and windy, with snowfall averaging around 45 inches. Furnaces and heat pumps carry an enormous load through the cold season and are most likely to fail during a hard cold snap when you need them most. Short-cycling, no-heat calls, and blower failures spike in January and February. In summer, warm and humid stretches make central AC servicing worthwhile too. Road salt used on winter streets is the main corrosion concern for outdoor condenser units, and wooded lakeside settings mean leaf debris and pollen can clog coils. Sears Home Services repairs central air, heat pumps, and furnaces, and yearly maintenance is the best way to avoid an emergency breakdown in the dead of winter.
Costs depend on the appliance and the specific repair. Your manufacturer-trained technician diagnoses the problem on-site and provides an exact quote — parts and labor — that's locked in once provided. The diagnostic fee runs $90 to $150 depending on the appliance and is waived if you proceed with the repair. You approve the cost before any work begins.
We're available 6 days a week with early morning to evening appointments, and same-day appointments may be available in your area. Check for same-day availability when you schedule online or call (534) 429-3096. Booking early in the day improves your chances.
We repair most major brands, including Whirlpool, Maytag, Samsung, LG, GE, Kenmore, KitchenAid, Frigidaire, Amana, and Bosch. We service most major brands no matter where you bought the appliance.
Most dishwashers last around 9 to 12 years. If yours is well within that range and the repair costs less than half the price of a comparable new unit, repair is usually the smarter choice — and it keeps a working appliance out of the landfill. In Waupaca's hard-water conditions, scale-related issues are often very repairable. Our technician can give you an exact quote so you can make an informed decision.
Schedule online or by phone, and you'll get confirmation by email and text plus reminders and real-time technician tracking on service day. Your technician diagnoses the issue, provides an exact quote, and completes the repair once you approve — often in a single visit, since our technicians carry commonly needed parts.
Yes. After diagnosing the problem, your technician provides an exact quote covering parts and labor. The price is locked in once provided and does not change, and no work begins until you approve. If you decline, you pay only the diagnostic fee.
Our technicians provide appliance repair throughout Waupaca and nearby communities, including the West Fulton Street corridor, the downtown Main Street area, the Chain O'Lakes district, and newer additions on the edges of the city. We serve the surrounding Waupaca County area six days a week.
Yes. Central Wisconsin groundwater is typically hard, and mineral scale can build up inside dishwashers, washing machines, and water heaters, shortening their life and reducing performance. A water softener helps, and periodic descaling of dishwashers and washers can slow the buildup. When components do wear out, we repair them and can advise on keeping scale in check.
Simple maintenance goes a long way. Clean refrigerator condenser coils once or twice a year, check and clear dryer vents regularly — especially in older homes with long vent runs — and run descaling cycles in your dishwasher and washer to fight hard-water scale. Before winter, have your furnace or heat pump inspected so a cold snap doesn't catch you off guard.
