Frank came very quickly. Assessed problem suspecting the drain pump. He said the pump I needed was not available to order. I assumed I'd have to buy a new dishwasher. I paid Frank left. I contacted Samsung and ordered a pump from their distributor and will install it myself. Not sure why Sears tech's part system would be so limited.

Menomonie's hard water, drawn from the Red Cedar River basin, is one of the biggest hidden strains on home appliances here. Mineral scale builds up quietly inside dishwashers, water lines, and washing machine valves, shortening their lifespan and dragging down performance. Add long, cold winters that keep dryers and furnaces running for months and humid 80–90°F summers that push refrigerators and central air hard, and you get a real range of repair needs. Many homes in this area date from the 1960s through the 1980s, and older plumbing and wiring can complicate appliance connections. Our manufacturer-trained technicians know these local patterns and repair most major brands.
When a refrigerator stops holding temperature during a humid Wisconsin summer, the compressor and condenser are often working overtime against the heat and moisture. Dust-clogged condenser coils, a failing evaporator fan, or a faulty thermostat are common culprits. In this area, hard water also drives ice maker and water-line problems, with scale slowly restricting flow and freezing components. If your ice maker is producing less or your water dispenser has slowed, mineral buildup is a likely cause. Our technicians diagnose the exact issue and provide a locked-in quote before any work begins. Periodic coil cleaning and water-filter changes go a long way toward preventing repeat trouble.
With UW-Stout nearby and a large share of rental and multifamily homes, washers in Menomonie see heavy, near-constant use. That workload wears out drive belts, lid switches, and drain pumps faster than average. A washer that won't spin or drain often has a clogged pump, worn coupler, or failed control board — and regional hard water accelerates detergent scale that can gum up valves and hoses. Overloading, common in busy households, adds strain over time. Our technicians pinpoint the failing part and repair most major brands. Running an occasional cleaning cycle helps cut down on scale and residue.
Menomonie's long winters mean dryers run hard from fall through spring, and heating performance is the first thing to go. A dryer that tumbles but won't heat usually points to a failed heating element, thermal fuse, or thermostat. In multifamily and rental settings especially, lint buildup in the vent line is a frequent cause of poor drying and a genuine fire hazard. If clothes take multiple cycles to dry, restricted airflow is often the reason. Our technicians test the heating circuit and airflow to find the true cause. Cleaning the lint trap every load and having vents cleared yearly keeps dryers safer and more efficient.
Hard water is tough on dishwashers throughout the Red Cedar region, leaving cloudy glassware, mineral film, and scale that clogs spray arms and drains. A dishwasher that won't drain often has a blocked filter, drain hose, or failed drain pump. Leaks typically trace back to a worn door gasket, damaged pump seal, or loose hose connection — issues that show up more in older 1960s–1980s homes with aging plumbing. Poor cleaning results are frequently a scale problem rather than a broken part. Our technicians diagnose the source and give you an exact quote up front. Regular use of a rinse aid and occasional descaling helps fight buildup.
Menomonie homes run a mix of gas and electric ranges across older and newer builds, so oven problems vary. Uneven baking often comes from a failing bake or broil element on electric models, or a worn igniter or gas valve on gas units. A faulty temperature sensor can throw off the entire cavity, leaving one side underdone. These issues tend to surface right around the winter holidays when ovens get their heaviest use. Our technicians test elements, igniters, and sensors to isolate the fault and repair most major brands. Checking your oven's calibration before the holiday season can save a lot of stress.
Reliable heat is non-negotiable through a Menomonie winter, where January temperatures average around 15°F. Furnaces that short-cycle, blow cold air, or won't ignite need prompt attention when it's this cold outside. In summer, central air and heat pumps work against humid 80–90°F heat, and road salt plus freeze-thaw cycles can corrode outdoor condenser units over the years. Severe spring and summer storms add stress with power surges and debris. Sears Home Services repairs furnaces, central air systems, and heat pumps, so one call covers your home's heating and cooling. Scheduling seasonal maintenance before winter and summer peaks helps catch small issues before they leave you without heat or cooling.
Costs depend on the appliance and the parts needed. Your manufacturer-trained technician diagnoses the problem on-site, then provides an exact quote covering parts and labor before any work begins — and that quote is locked in once provided. The diagnostic fee runs $90 to $150 depending on the appliance and is waived if you proceed with the repair. You approve the cost before we start, so there are no surprises.
We're available six days a week with early morning to evening appointments, and same-day service may be available in your area. Check for same-day availability when you schedule online or call (715) 718-4803. Booking early in the day gives you the best chance at a same-day slot.

Most refrigerators last about 10 to 15 years. If yours is under 8 years old and the repair costs less than half the price of a comparable new unit, repair is usually the smart choice — and it keeps a working appliance out of the landfill. Our technician can assess your fridge's condition and give you an exact quote so you can decide with full information.
First, schedule online or by phone and pick an appointment window. Your manufacturer-trained technician arrives, diagnoses the issue, and provides an exact quote for parts and labor. Once you approve, the technician completes the repair — often in a single visit, since our techs carry commonly needed parts — and tests the appliance before leaving. Every repair is backed by a service guarantee.
Yes. After the on-site diagnosis, your technician provides an exact quote — parts and labor — that doesn't change once provided. You approve the cost before any work begins. If you decide not to proceed, you pay only the diagnostic fee.

Yes. The region's hard water leaves mineral scale that builds up in dishwashers, ice makers, water lines, and washing machine valves, reducing efficiency and shortening appliance life. If you notice cloudy glassware, a slow ice maker, or poor cleaning results, scale is often the cause. Our technicians can diagnose scale-related problems and recommend maintenance to help prevent them.
A few simple habits help a lot: clean refrigerator condenser coils twice a year, clear your dryer's lint trap every load and have the vent cleared annually, and run periodic cleaning or descaling cycles in your washer and dishwasher to fight hard-water buildup. Before winter, have your furnace checked so you're not left without heat during a cold snap. Yearly preventive maintenance catches small problems before they turn into expensive repairs.
