Surprise after he left
Overall, I thought Darryal did a fantastic job on the dishwasher itself. He was neat and clean, worked with focus and really seemed to understand what he was doing. What surprised me was two things (both after the fact). First, I had a chip out of my countertop. And, since it was formica, you can see the wood underneath and it is now exposed to the water right there by the sink and above the dishwasher. And he didn't mention anything about it. Second was that sign off was required by the home owner. When I asked him before he left, he said something about something missing and he would handle it after. In my email afterwards, I could see that he had completed the section and scribbled a non-legible signature.

Pretty simple problem that was resolved quickly. Appreciate that. But the tech walked right into my house with shoes on. When I asked him to put on shoe covers he said he didn't have any. When I asked him questions about the dishwasher he did provide answers but with an air of condescension and a bit of impatience. Happy the issue with dishwasher was fixed. Not thrilled with the interaction. And no it was not a language barrier.

My first call was over three weeks ago. Technician came and had to order "a" part. The part came. Two other technicians came and said there was a bigger part -they checked and it said it was in the process of shipping. They were not very cordial and seemed put out about the delay. The actual part came on 2/17 (way before the tech said the part was in transit) and was accidentally picked up by our church. Today 3/3, technicians showed up and took 10 minutes to fix dishwasher, not using either part ordered by previous techs. One part was broken and the other unneeded. Luckily, he had the needed piece in his truck. Very nice, asked me to check to see if dishwasher was OK, did I need anything else. Long story short, I have been a Sears Home Protection client since it first began many years ago and this was the first time I have had to write a review. Today's technicians were what Sears should be.

Wintley arrived on time and went right to work on our dishwasher. He had cleared the error message in about an hour, started our machine to confirm it worked properly, then left politely. Unfortunately, the problem reoccurred shortly thereafter : the error message reappeared and the machine would no longer run. Wintley apparently cleared the symptom, but not the cause of the problem. I am asking for another visit, with credit for the payment made for the unsuccessful earlier attempt.

Javier came to help us with a dishwasher that was not draining. After a very cursory inspection, he stated confidently that the controller board was defective. Since the controller board is no longer available for our nit (at least not through Sears), we would likely need to need to purchase a new dishwasher. Unsatisfied by his diagnosis, I spent several hours on Reddit and Youtube and found a very simple solution that immediately solved the problem (the so-called "high-loop", simply raising the drain hose under the sink by a few more inches). I wish that Javier had put a bit more effort into helping us solve the problem while he was here. But, even more so, I wish that I had spent a bit more time trying to troubleshoot the problem on my own before calling for a service tech. Lesson learned.

Carlos was here before appointment time and replaced the part fast. Unfortunately he did not level the dishwasher or fastened it to the counter. Had to do that myself.

Very professional. Replaced parts that were ordered by previous technician. Unit continued to blow fuses. He did not know where to go moving forth with repairs. He didn't do any further diagnostics.
