    Had an annual maintenance check. The tech was thorough and even though there was nothing wrong he gave me several tips on how to keep it running well for as long as possible.

  8. Some good service with some SERIOUS IRRITATION

    Called Fri 6/19 to report hot water heater leaking. Message told me to call during working hours. A weekend without hot water. Called again M 6/22. Tech arrived later that day. He was great but I was charged $70 to have the tech verify that the tank was bad - irritating. Received call within an hour and scheduled delivery for Wednesday - again good service. Next day I received a call from Michael at Sears Rockford informing me that the previous commitment for delivery was no good and he would help me get the unit. He quoted an in-stock date of 6/30 - I would have to pick it up because Sears no longer delivered water heaters. I received a call from Central informing me that delivery was indeed scheduled for 6/24. When I got into the store Michael told me to disregard the call, checked in-stock again and said it would be 7/9. I asked for the store manager. While waiting, Chris, a mattress sales associate, took it upon himself to help and located the unit at the Crystal Lake store: super initiative. If I wanted to pick it up I could get it the next morning. I called Crystal Lake the next morning and while waiting for a call back (which I never received) I got a call from a drive out of Janesville letting me know my water heater would be delivered around 12:30 or 01:00pm. It was and the guys were great. If Sears would offer weekend service and keep local stores out of the loop it wouldn't have been too bad but, as it is, I don’t think I’ll be buying a Sears water heater again.

    Roger, we can see this process did not go as smoothly as it should have. We understand how important water heaters are to a home and consider this to fall under the category of emergency service. We do regret the inconvenience you have been faced with and are happy to hear you were able to get assistance from the local store. We hope we are able to assist you in the future.
