Time to renew

I've been getting letters reminding me that the service agreements are about to expire on the appliances I bought when I moved into my house a few years ago. I didn't realize it had been that long.

The nice thing about having a service agreements, I've found, is that I don't have to debate whether to call for service when I suspect that something is amiss with an appliance. Refrigerator making a funny noise? Call for service! Dishwasher not draining? Call for service! (That one we were able to solve on the phone – I just had to toggle the float near the front that detects water level).

I'm especially keen on renewing the service agreements for the expensive items, which is pretty much everything other than the microwave. I don't expect any of them to give up the ghost just yet, but I just feel better knowing that if there are any problems, I won't have to grapple with an unexpected expense.

need energy star ratings on kenmore water heaters

Posted by steve binder on December 18, 2009 at 12:11 PM CST #

Hi Steve Binder, this is Cameron, a Sears Blue Service Crew member. I’m always more than happy to help you find the Energy Star ratings for Kenmore water heaters. You can find a full selection of our water heaters at Sears.com. Taking a look at one of the manuals for the more recent Kenmore water heater model #32134 which can be found at www.ManageMyLife.com, I found that all Kenmore residential electric water heaters with capacities of 20 to 120 Gallons. Input rating of 12Kw or less at a voltage no greater than 250 V have achieved the Gamma energy efficiency rating. If you have further questions, you might want to contact our water heater specialists at 1-800-877-6420.

I'm considering buying a protection agreement for my new LCD TV. I have an older plasma as well. Is there a reliability difference between the two?

This is Jon with the Sears Blue Service Crew. To be perfectly honest with you reliability and dependability depend mainly on the user preference. Some people like Plasma, some like LCD while others don't mind either. I would like to suggest visiting www.Sears.com where you can compare the two types in picture and price. You may also feel free to call us here at Sears Home Service for further assistance. Our phone number is 1-800-424-2047.
