Step into Spring with New Flooring
If you’re tired of looking at that old, dull, dingy, outdated, and worn out floor what better time to refresh your home but Spring? Here are a few tell-tale signs that may indicate that it’s time to replace that floor. High traffic areas no longer clean up, have a dull appearance, or are lifting or chipping away at seams.
When we hear the term ‘laminate flooring’—some of us may think of grandma’s house and the flooring in her kitchen. Laminate flooring isn’t what it used to be! New technology has made laminate flooring with textured finishes new and exciting. Some of the newer laminates are embossed, hand scrapped, or have a hand rubbed 'oil look' finish that is virtually impossible to tell the difference between real wood and laminate.
If real wood is your choice, options include solid and engineered wood for that warm look you’ve always wanted. Different widths of planks allow you the opportunity to give your home a modern or traditional look, to meet your home décor needs.
With winter now behind us (we hope). Wouldn’t it be nice to kick off those slippers and run your toes deep into plush carpet? Carpets give you the opportunity to choose from a full rainbow of colors with cool shades of blues, vibrant reds, to warm earth tone colors which blend in the surroundings and any furniture design. Choices include many carpet fiber options to handle any amount of traffic in the home.
If tile is more your speed and your lifestyle needs durability you have tile options from 12”x12” all the way up to 20”x20”—with porcelain and ceramic to enhance any kitchen, bath, or laundry area. If you like the look of tile but are concerned about grout lines and also feel that tile may be too hard of a surface--then vinyl tile is also an option. Vinyl tile isn’t your grandma’s floor anymore. Vinyl tile allows for a true representation of real tile without the hassle and worries about grout lines. Patterns from small to large tiles and even a 'wood planked' look give you the flexibility to complement any room.

Is some type of sub flooring recommended prior to installing laminate flooring? Original floor is carpeting over cement flooring.

Is is common for water to be in a brand new washer out of the box?

Valued Customer, this is Korinna with the Sears Blue Service Crew. I understand your concern with your new washer having water in the unit. I'm happy to help you today. The washers are tested at the factory and may have a few drops of water in the unit but normally the water is blown out with compressed air. If you have inches of water in the unit, that is not normal. I would recommend returning to the store for a replacement.
I really hope this information helps you today. If you have any other questions or concerns, contact us directly at Sears Home Services at 1-800-424-2047.

Why is the freezer freezing up.
Posted by Victor on September 02, 2011 at 02:35 PM CDT #
Hi Victor. My name is Korinna and I'm with the Sears Blue Services Crew. I know it can be frustrating when the freezer gets too cold. I'm happy to help you today. If the freezer is getting too cold (below zero degrees#, most of the time, turning the cold control #thermostat) to a warmer setting, will correct it. Normal freezer temperature is 0 - 5 degrees. The best way to check the temperature is, to place a thermometer between some packages. Air temperature is not a good check. If the freezer still gets too cold, the thermostat may need to be replaced. Depending on your model, there could also be an issue with the defrost system. If changing the control to a higher setting doesn't work, service may be needed.
I really hope this information helps you today Victor. If you have any other question, concerns or to set service, contact us here at Sears Home Services, directly at 1-800-424-2047.
